Macau marks today the traditional Chong Yeung Festival, also known as Double Ninth Festival or Ancestors’ Festival, as a public holiday. The festival is celebrated on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, i.e., according to the Western calendar, on October 29 this year. On Chong Yeung Festival, people visit cemeteries to honour their ancestors.
