Macau hotel guests rise 0.1 pct to 10.9 million from Jan to Sept

Macau’s 147 hotels recorded 10.9 million guests in the first nine months of the year, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 0.1 percent, as announced today by the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC).

In September, the hotel industry welcomed 1.1 million guests, unchanged year-on-year. At the end of September, the industry comprised 45,000 guestrooms, representing a year-on-year growth of 2.4 percent.

Guests from the Chinese mainland accounted for 74.3 percent of all guests in the first three quarters, an increase of 1.3 percent. The number of foreign guests rose by 9.5 percent to 854,000, making up 7.8 percent of the total guest count. South Koreans accounted for 29.1 percent of all foreign guests.

On average, in the first nine months, guests stayed for 1.7 nights.
