A young female body was found floating in Nam Van Lake yesterday, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement.
According to the statement, the Fire Services Bureau (CB) notified the Judiciary Police at 8:28 a.m. yesterday of the case, in which Macau Customs Service officers found the body in the lake off Avenida de Sagres (沙格斯大馬路), i.e., the western waterfront of Nape. After the body had been towed to shore, the statement said, the Fire Services Bureau requested the Judiciary Police to send officers to the scene to investigate the case.
The statement, which identified the deceased as a young local woman, said that the body had no injuries that could have been caused by foul play.
A post-mortem examination will be performed to determine the exact cause of death, the statement said, adding that the case has been classified as dead body found.
