The second edition of “LVUP.ACG LV2,” a three-day event dedicated to animation, comics, and gaming culture, concluded yesterday at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf’s Legend Boulevard in Nape, bringing together fans, cosplayers*, and creators from across the region.

LVUP stands for “level up”.

Organised by the Macau E-Sports Federation (中國澳門電子競技運動大聯盟總會), the event kicked off with an opening ceremony on Friday. The ceremony featured performances and appearances by local and regional cosplayers.

The first day largely focused on the ceremonial opening and preview of the exhibition areas, while the main activities – including the cosplay contests, artist meet-ups, and interactive workshops – were scheduled across the weekend.

During the weekend, the venue transformed into a hub for fans, featuring live performances, themed merchandise booths, art showcases, and competitions such as the “Cosplay Catwalk” and an ACG (Animation, Comics, Games) Singing Contest. The event also hosted the “Macau Japanese-style Idol” showcase.

The festival concluded last night with award presentations and an announcement of next year’s edition planning to expand its scale in Hengqin.

*Cosplay is a portmanteau of the words “costume” and “role-play”. It is a performance art and hobby where participants, called cosplayers, wear costumes and fashion accessories to represent a specific character from a work of fiction. – DeepSeek
