Macau ping-pong team clinches 3 gold, 3 silver & 6 bronze medals at NSOG

The Macau Special Olympics announced on its Facebook page between Sunday and yesterday that the local team has clinched three gold, three silver and six bronze medals in the 9th National Special Olympics Games between Saturday and yesterday.

The eight-day 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and 9th National Special Olympic Games, held not just in Guangdong but also in Hong Kong and Macau, ends next Monday. The first day of the Games was yesterday. 

Due to the deadly inferno in Tai Po on November 26, the organisers decided to cancel the traditional torch relay and opening ceremony. 

The National Special Olympic Games (NSOG) table tennis competition of the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th NSOG started on Saturday and concluded today at Tsuen Wan Sports Centre.

On Saturday, during the first day of the NSOG table tennis competition, 10 local athletes won three gold, two silver and three bronze medals in Men’s Singles and Women’s Doubles.

The award-winning athletes are Leong Iat Pan, Men’s Singles 16 to 21 years old, Group H Champion; Wong Kuok Lon, Men’s Singles 22 to 29 years old, Group F Champion; Cheang U Hang, Men’s Singles 16 to 21 years old, Group B Runner up; Lao U Kin, Men’s Singles 16 to 21 years old, Group F Runner up; Leong Ion Lam, Men’s Singles 16 to 21 years old, Group G, third place; Lam Kei Chon, Men’s Singles 22 to 29 years old, Group B, third place; Ho Chi Iao and Kuan Un Kuan, Women’s Doubles 12 to 15 years old, Group A Champion; Ng Weng San and Lam U Tong, Woman’s Doubles 22 to 29 years old, Group B, third place.

Yesterday was the second day of the NSOG table tennis competition, opening with the Mixed Doubles. The local team clinched one silver and three bronze medals, and the local winners are Cheang U Hang and Ng Weng San, 22 to 29 years old, Group C Runner up; Lao U Kin and Lao U Kin, 16 to 21 years old, Group D, third place; Leong Ion Lam and Ho Chi Iao, 16 to 21 years old, Group F, third place; Lam Kei Chon and Lam U Tong, 22 to 29 years old, Group B, third place.

Meanwhile, the NSOG Table Tennis Women’s Singles and Men’s Doubles competitions will start in Tsuen Wan Sports Centre today at 10 a.m.
