Macau police nab Filipina, 2 Indonesians for drug use & sale

The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a Filipina and two Indonesians for drug use, trafficking and possession on Tuesday, PJ spokesman Cheong Un Hong said during a special press conference yesterday.

Cheong identified the three suspects as a 62-year-old unemployed Macau resident from the Philippines surnamed Trinidad, a 42-year-old Indonesian domestic helper surnamed Lina, and a 37-year-old Indonesian male surnamed Ermansyah who told police that he was unemployed.

Based on a tipoff, Cheong said, PJ officers investigated and carried out an operation in the city centre on Tuesday evening. PJ officers first intercepted Trinidad and seized a small quantity of methamphetamine (commonly known as meth), a quantity of drug paraphernalia, and suspected drug proceeds of 2,700 patacas, Cheong said. 

Subsequently, outside her flat in the central district, PJ officers arrested Lina, according to Cheong. While searching Lina’s flat, Cheong said, PJ officers arrested Ermansyah and PJ officers discovered a bag of meth weighing 25.32 grams, an electronic scale, drug taking paraphernalia, and other related items. Cheong said that the trio’s urine tests returned positive results for drug use.

According to Cheong, a total of 34.34 grams of meth, with a street value of around 103,000 patacas, was seized in the case.

The trio have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), each facing charges of drug use, drug trafficking and possession of drug taking paraphernalia.

Police bust 4 local men for use, sale & possession of drugs

Meanwhile, the Judiciary Police arrested four local men for drug use, drug trafficking and possession on Monday and Tuesday, PJ spokesman Cheong Un Hong said during a regular press conference yesterday.

Cheong identified the four suspects as a 32-year-old cook surnamed Chao and three stagehands aged between 40 and 47, one surnamed Lei and two surnamed Wu aged 43 and 40, respectively. 

According to Cheong, based on a tipoff, PJ officers first intercepted Chao in the northern district on Monday evening, seizing 0.45 grams of meth. Subsequently, early on Tuesday, Cheong said, PJ officers intercepted Lei and seized 0.34 grams of meth from him and 0.18 grams of meth, drug taking paraphernalia, and an electronic scale from his flat. 

Later the same day, PJ officers arrested the two Wus in a flat in the northern district, according to Cheong, they seized two bags of meth weighing 0.97 grams, a quantity of drug taking paraphernalia and an electronic scale. Cheong added that the four suspects tested positive for drug use. 

According to Cheong, the investigation revealed that all four suspects have a history of drug abuse spanning over a decade. Among them, Lei and the older Wu repeatedly engaged in drug trafficking activities in Macau, Cheong said, adding that Chao had previously purchased drugs from Lei.

The quartet have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), each facing charges of drug use and possession of drug taking paraphernalia, Cheong said, adding that Lei and the older Wu each face a drug trafficking charge.
