Macau hotel guests rise 1 pct to record 14.56 million in 2025

    Macau’s 147 hotels, with a total of 45,000 guestrooms, welcomed a record 14.56 million guests last year, representing a year-on-year growth of 1.0 percent, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced today.

The previous record stood at 14.42 million hotel guests, which Macau's then 146 hotels achieved in 2024. 

Guests from the Chinese mainland increased by 1.4 percent to 10.73 million, accounting for 73.7 percent of the total number. Guests from Hong Kong decreased by 4.1 percent to 1.77 million.

Foreign guests grew by 11.8 percent to 1.23 million, accounting for 8.5 percent of all guests. Among foreign guests—also known as international guests—those from South Korea (350,000), Japan (102,000), Malaysia (93,000), and Thailand (88,000) rose by 9.3 percent, 25.5 percent, 6.5 percent, and 33.4 percent, respectively.

The average length of stay for guests remained at 1.7 nights.

According to a DSEC statement, hotels’ average guestroom occupancy rate stood at 89.4 percent in 2025, an uplift of 3.1 percentage points year-on-year.
