Macau re-exports rise, imports drop in 2025

    Macau’s re-exports rose by 3.8 percent year-on-year to 12.46 billion patacas last year, while its merchandise imports dropped by 3.0 percent year-on-year to 124.79 billion patacas, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced today. Domestic exports fell by 1.8 percent to 1.46 billion patacas.

Re-exports accounted for 89.5 percent of total exports. In 2025, Macau’s external merchandise trade and merchandise trade deficit totalled 138.71 billion patacas and 110.86 billion patacas, respectively. Imports made up 89.9 percent of Macau’s external merchandise trade last year.

Food and beverages remained Macau’s number one import segment last year, at 22.65 billion patacas, up by 1.7 percent. Most of Macau’s imports in 2025 originated from the Chinese mainland (31.8 percent of the total), France (14.2 percent), and Italy (10.3 percent). Some 71.5 percent of last year’s exports were shipped to Hong Kong.

The Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) is a free port and a separate customs territory of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
