The General Union of Neighbourhood Associations (commonly known as Kai Fong) yesterday called for more comprehensive planning for elderly care as the city faces an ageing population.
Chan Ka Leong, who heads Kai Fong’s social affairs committee, made the suggestion during a press conference addressing the city’s elderly care at the group’s community service centre in Toi San district.
According to the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC), residents aged above 65 accounted for 9.8 percent of the city’s population last year.
