SJM Resorts again supported “The Feast of the Drunken Dragon”, being the main sponsor and introducing initiatives including the ongoing “Intangible Cultural Heritage Flash Fun” interactive games.

According to a statement from the integrated resort operator earlier this week, the company has continued its long-standing, decades-long support for the “The Feast of the Drunken Dragon”, organised by the “Macao Fish Trade General Association”, which was held on Buddha’s Birthday on May 24.

The day featured a worship ceremony, drunken dragon and lion dance performances in Largo do Senado, and a parade across the peninsula that also included Grand Lisboa Macau, Hotel Lisboa Macau, Kam Pek Market, and Ponte 16 Resort Macau on its route, drawing large crowds, the statement said. SJM Mascot “Sam” also joined performances, while the company’s volunteer team visited Sam Kai Vui Kun and Iao Hon Market to assist in distributing “Longevity Rice”, the statement added.

The interactive games, meanwhile, will continue to be held in June in Hong Kung Temple (康公廟)Square during the weekends of June 6-7, 13-14 and 19-21. The games are themed around the festival and the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, for which races will start on June 3, 14 and 19, inviting participants to “experience intangible cultural heritage in an immersive way”.

One can also redeem offers or use food and beverage vouchers won from the games at the nearby Kam Pek Market, a key project under the resort operator’s San Ma Lo district revitalisation plan, the statement said.

“In alignment with the Macau SAR Government’s “Tourism+” strategy, SJM also helps channel festival crowds into the city’s old districts and historic neighbourhoods, fostering a win-win outcome between cultural preservation and community economic development”, the statement said.
