Macau can expect rain and unstable weather today and tomorrow, the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) announced in a statement yesterday, citing the influence of an active low-pressure trough.
According to the statement, showers and thunderstorms are expected today and early tomorrow, noting that they might be “heavy at times”. The bureau warned members of the public to be on the lookout for abrupt weather changes, as well as to “beware of flooding caused by continuous rainfall”.
Looking at the bureau’s seven-day forecast, thundery showers are forecast to continue from this Friday through next Monday, along with showers next Tuesday.
Macau also experienced inclement weather over the weekend. Heavy showers hit Macau early on Monday morning, with a statement by the bureau noting that the sixth “Red Rainstorm Warning Signal” of the year was issued on that day as the residual circulation of the weakened Typhoon Noul brought strong, persistent “train-effect” rainbands to the area.
On Monday, the bureau successively issued the Yellow Rainstorm Warning and Red Rainstorm Warning within 25 minutes of the storm’s arrival, with Taipa recording the heaviest rain at 57.6 mm in an hour. All rainstorm warnings were lifted at 9:45 a.m. after four hours and 35 minutes on Monday.
