An eight-month old girl has been diagnosed with measles, but has recovered and was discharged from hospital on Friday, Health Bureau (SSM) Centre for Disease Control and Prevention Director Lam Chong said during a press conference at the public Conde de Sao Januario Hospital Centre (CHCSJ) on Saturday.
According to the hospital, the baby was taken to the University Hospital of the Macau University of Science Technology (MUST) on July 8 with a fever, cough and rash, but was not admitted. Two days later, the baby was taken to the emergency room at the public hospital as she was suspected of having contracted measles.
Lam said the baby had not left the city during the latency period, and thus the bureau assumed that she had been infected locally.
