The grey and sometimes dusty and even dirty power boxes installed by local electric utility CEM in the streets have been given a facelift by local artists and illustrators, bringing vibrancy and energy to the community through art.

This is part of CEM’s recent “Electricity x Culture and Creativity – Power Box Revitalisation with Art” project where 20 local artists and illustrators from the Macau Artist Society and Macau Illustrators Association are revitalising the low-voltage transformers to bring art to the community and also give local artists a platform to showcase their creativity.

The 20 power boxes are located on street corners and alleys around the places pedestrians walk past every day, such as the Red Market, Barra, Old Taipa Village and the coastline off Coloane village.
