A woman from the mainland was arrested on Tuesday for stealing a male mainlander’s valuables worth HK$450,000 from a hotel safe last month, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Choi Ian Fai said during a special press conference in Zape yesterday.
According to Choi, the suspect is a 26-year-old businesswoman surnamed Li while the victim is a businessman whose surname was not revealed.
Choi said the victim met Li on February 1 for the first time in a casino in Cotai. The two later went to the victim’s hotel guestroom in the city centre. After arriving at the room, the victim put his valuables in a safe, Choi said, adding that the suspect managed to catch sight of the safe’s guest passcode.
