The New Macau Gaming Workers’ Rights Union yesterday petitioned the city’s six gaming operators, urging them to raise the salaries of their casino workers and improve various other benefits including an increase in the number of days for paid maternity leave.
Cloee Chao Sao Fong, the union’s high-profile leader, spoke to reporters about their petitions near MGM Macau in Nape yesterday. She and several union representatives then went to the offices of the six gaming operators and submitted their petitions to the companies’ representatives.
Chao noted that a number of gaming operators have recently announced that they would pay their employees two additional monthly salaries and some other additional allowances. She also said that some gaming operators have also announced an increase in the number of days of paid maternity leave and even paternity leave.
