A total of 13 mainland suspects have been arrested for their alleged involvement in a loan sharking syndicate based in Taipa that charged gamblers 20 percent “interest” on the amount they bet.

The Judiciary Police (PJ) announced the case during a regular press conference yesterday.

According to a PJ spokesperson, the investigation began after the police were tipped off last month and raided a residential flat in Rua de Nam Keng on Monday, arresting 13 suspects – seven males and six females – aged between 26 and 39, most of them from Jilin province.
