Apple will be opening its Macau flagship store in Sands Cotai Central tomorrow, marking the US tech company’s 50th store in China since its debut in the nation a decade ago.

This will be the second Apple store in Macau after the first one opened two years ago in Galaxy.

During a media preview yesterday, Apple Retail’s Senior Market Leader for Greater China Richard Hames said that the Macau flagship shop, designed by London-based Foster and Partners, would be the company’s first in the world to have bamboo groves that shoot through to the second floor under natural sunlight.

During a media preview yesterday, Apple Retail’s Senior Market Leader for Greater China Richard Hames said that the Macau flagship shop, designed by London-based Foster and Partners, would be the company’s first in the world to have bamboo groves that shoot through to the second floor under natural sunlight.

The bamboo shoot feature can also be seen around the outside of the store, offering a sense of greenery and calmness, an ambience that runs throughout the store, which is noticeably different to its other shops.

Besides the bamboo, the store also has a giant 8K screen, which is the largest in all Apple shops around the world, according to a presentation by Hames, pointing out that the “video wall” area will be where people can join workshops held every hour for free.

Hames said that to date nearly 10,000 people have attended these workshop sessions in its store at Galaxy Macau.

The sessions include camps and field trips which people can join to learn the tools and apps to get the most out of their Apple devices.

In addition, Hames said that there are 150 staff at the flagship shop, and besides Chinese, English and Portuguese, some can speak Malay and Russian too.
