The Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) said in a statement yesterday that a new pumping station for sewage in Taipa has recently come into operation, which the bureau said will increase the capacity to treat sewage in the area by 43 percent.

The new pumping station, built on Rotunda Ouvidor Arriaga, replaced two old sewage pumping stations nearby, according to the statement, which noted that the two old pumping stations had insufficient capacity to treat the sewage produced in the area.

The statement said that the new pumping station, situated on the extremely busy roundabout, can meet the increasing needs resulting from Taipa’s future constant urban development.
