The Macau Customs Service said in a statement on Friday that its officers busted five smuggling cases earlier this month at the Barrier Gate border checkpoint.

According to the statement, two local men and two female mainlanders were involved in the five cases. The contraband involved uninspected meat, cigarettes that no duty had been paid on and undeclared fishing rods.

On July 19, local customs officers separately seized 32.5 kilogrammes of uninspected fresh fowl from a female mainlander and 16.6 kilogrammes of uninspected raw meat from a local man, when they were entering Macau, according to the statement.
