An American football assistant coach is Macau’s latest patient to have been infected with measles, pushing the total number of measles cases to 26 so far this year, a Health Bureau (SSM) statement yesterday said yesterday.

According to the statement, the Ecuador-born 28-year-old male coach is a Macau resident who had visited a room on the first floor of the private Kiang Wu Hospital on March 6 where he had contact with one of the previous measles patients.

The statement said that the coach felt unwell on Sunday and went to the Kon Chi Medical Centre on Monday evening. He developed a rash on Tuesday so he returned to the medical centre, which transferred him to Kiang Wu Hospital’s emergency department. His test results from the Health Bureau’s lab confirmed his measles infection.
