The Municipal Affairs Bureau’s (IAM) Department of Food Safety said in a statement on Friday that a mango mousse cake sample from the Sky 21 restaurant at AIA Tower was found to have been contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.

The department has reported the case to the Health Bureau’s (SSM) Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, the statement said, adding that there were no immediate reports of any Salmonella infections among the restaurant’s patrons.

The statement said that the contaminated sample was discovered in a regular food test done by IAM officials, adding that the sample did not fulfil the requirement of the bureau’s microbiological guidelines for ready-to-eat food. The guideline states that if Salmonella is detected in a 25g/ml food sample, it means that it is potentially damaging to health and unsuitable for human consumption.
