Macau's observatory has announced that it will replace Typhoon Signal No.8 with Strong Storm Signal No.3 at 8:30 p.m. today.

According to a statement by the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) this evening, Typhoon "Chaba" (2203) was located about 280 km west of Macau at 7 p.m. and gradually moving inland.

The weather station hoisted Signal No.8 at 9:30 p.m. yesterday when it replaced Signal No.3 which it had hoisted at 2 a.m. yesterday.

Macau's Civil Protection Operation Centre reported this evening 26 incidents such as fallen objects and collapsing scaffoldings caused by the typhoon today. One person was injured, the centre said.

The centre reported flooding in low-lying areas in the morning.

Macau's nucleic acid testing (NAT) stations have been closed since Signal No.8 was hoisted last night. They are slated to reopen tomorrow, a Health Bureau (SSM) told The Macau Post Daily this evening.
