According to a statement yesterday from the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the Golden Dragon Parade will take place on the first and second days of the Chinese New Year (CNY), which are tomorrow and on Wednesday.
The statement noted that the opening ceremony for the Golden Dragon Parade will take place at the Ruins of St. Paul tomorrow. At 10:30 a.m., the God of Fortune will distribute golden ingots, while MGTO, Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) and Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) officials will officiate over the golden dragon and dancing lions’ eye-dotting ceremonies at 11 a.m.
A 238-metre-long golden dragon, along with 18 dancing lions, will follow a route from the Ruins of St. Paul’s to the roundabout at Nam Van Lake and Sai Van Lake Square.
The statement pointed out that contact-tracing QR codes (venue codes) will be posted at the eye-dotting ceremony for participants to scan using the Macau Health Code app. Moreover, the statement emphasised participants must wear a facemask, undergo temperature checks and present a valid Macau Health Code.
Performers must also meet the Health Bureau’s (SSM) requirements concerning “Prevention of Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia – Advice on the Management of Collective Festive Events, and Recreational and Sports Activities”, such as having completed two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, the statement pointed out.
Meanwhile, the statement added that dance performances will also take place in Largo do Pagode da Barra, the Ruins of St. Paul’s, Largo do Pagode do Bazar and Taipa Houses, with the famous Guizhou Congjiang Ethnic Art Troupe among the performers.
