The government has launched a public tender for building a new sewage pumping station to replace the current one near Barra, according to an announcement published in the Official Gazette (BO) yesterday.

According to the announcement, potential bidders are required to submit their quotations by August 16. The Public Works Bureau (DSOP) will unseal the submitted bids the next day.

The winner will be required to complete the project within 320 working days, according to the announcement.

The sewage pumping station, officially known as EP2, is located near Pousada de São Tiago on Rua de S. Tiago da Barra.

The DSOP website says that the EP2 sewage pumping station is currently operating in a way that is exceeding its capacity.

According to the website, the project will construct a new EP2 sewage pumping station to replace the current EP2 sewage pumping station. The new pumping station will have a higher sewage drainage capacity, the website says.

The website says that in addition to building the new EP2 sewage pumping station, the government will also launch a project to improve the area’s sewage drainage network in compliance with the area’s urban development.

The Barra Transport Hub, which includes a public bus terminal, came into operation in December last year, while the adjacent Light Rail Transit (LRT) station, the construction of which was completed early this year, is now scheduled to open at the end of this year. – AFP
