The Judiciary Police (PJ) were notified by the Fire Service Bureau (CB) at 1:48 p.m. yesterday that a non-resident worker (NRW) from the mainland died after “falling” from an industrial building on Avenida do Coronel Mesquita, according to a PJ statement yesterday.

The statement did not reveal the man’s exact age, but said he is senior.

According to the statement, the male victim lived in a flat on the second floor of the building with his colleagues.

The man’s boss, whose gender was not revealed, told the police that the man did not turn up for work at 8:30 a.m. and did not answer the telephone, the statement said.

His employer, along with police and firefighters, searched the building for the man and found him lying on a podium on the first floor of the building, the statement said.

The statement said that no suicide note was found at the scene.

A preliminary examination of the body showed that the injuries were consistent with a fall from a height, according to the statement, which pointed out that there were no suspected criminal injuries on the body.

The exact cause of death would be confirmed after a forensic examination, the statement said, adding that the case was listed as a dead body found.
