Works by local artist Chiang Wai Lan are being showcased at the Creative Macau gallery for her solo exhibition “Little Secrets”, presenting the artist’s perspective as she reflects on various moments in her life.
The exhibition displays a total of 25 works and mainly comprises watercolours and installations, but also features work that incorporates digital art, graphite, and the use of colour pencils. Moreover, books showcasing Chiang’s previous works are also available for exhibition-goers to read.
According to a recent statement from the gallery, throughout the course of personal growth, “people often look back at their past selves and hold different views of themselves and their surroundings as they experience life and coming of age”. Chiang, who has exhibited her works in Macau and abroad, uses her own transformation and “gives it new meaning” through her artworks.
The statement added that she also makes use of “the unique perspective of an artist”, taking on different roles to “look back on various moments in her past life so as to bring out a clash of ideas with her past self in reflection, examination or critique”.
Chiang has held several solo exhibitions. She has also been involved in visual art creation, visual art education, teacher training, and curriculum research in Macau for many years, according to the statement.
The exhibition is on until July 13. One can visit the gallery from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, except on public holidays, with free admission. For more details, one can visit https://www.creativemacau.org.mo/
