The Macao University of Tourism (UTM) will host its “UTM First Lecture” next Saturday on its Taipa campus, with the one-day event slated to have lectures, discussion sessions, and a chance to view facilities, among other activities, according to a statement from the public university on Wednesday.
Registration, which is free, is now open to students, parents and other members of the public in Macau and neighbouring regions. It will last from 2 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Places are limited.
The statement said that the event coincides with UTM’s 30th anniversary, with the tertiary education institution partnering with Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), Melco Resorts & Entertainment, Sands China Limited and SJM Resorts, S.A. to set up the “Campus + Industry” in-depth exploration journey, which the statement said aims to help students plan their future career paths and make academic choices accordingly.
Following the opening ceremony, the statement said that one can visit facilities such as the Heritage Lab, iRetail Lab, educational kitchens and Educational Residence. Students can also choose among four industry routes: “GEG’s Art of Management: Exploring Galaxy International Convention Centre”, “Melco Resorts’ distinguished MICHELIN-Starred restaurant operations”, “A Journey of Culinary Culture with Sands China”, and “SJM’s Creative Innovations in Classic Cuisine.
The routes aim to enable students to have a deeper understanding of “core industry operations”, according to the statement.
Moreover, lectures and discussions from UTM’s Faculty of Innovative Hospitality Management, Faculty of Creative Tourism and Smart Technologies, and postgraduate programmes will also be held prior to the tour of facilities.
