Due to it being the traditional Ching Ming (spelt “Qingming” in Putonghua pinyin) Festival, a public holiday, today, The Macau Post Daily will take a weekend break and also be off on Sunday. We will return to work on Monday so the print edition of Macau’s oldest English-language newspaper will be out again on Tuesday morning. However, our digital edition on our website https://www.macaupostdaily.com/ will be updated round-the-clock. Our local news and editorials as well as commentary by national media organisations are also available on various LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook accounts.

The Macau Post Daily’s office will open again on Monday.

We wish all our readers, advertisers, distributors and contributors a restful holiday.

All government offices and banks will be closed today and will reopen on Monday.

The Qingming Festival (清明节), also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day, is a traditional Chinese festival that falls on the 15th day after the Spring Equinox (usually April 4 or 5). It is a time for honouring one’s ancestors by visiting their graves, cleaning tombstones, making offerings (such as food, incense and spirit money), and paying one’s respects. Directly translated, the Chinese name of the festival means “clear brightness”.
