The Public Security Police (PSP) announced in a statement early today that a total of 1.144 million visitors arrived in Macau over the eight-day National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, with a daily average of 143,000, a 1.9 percent increase compared to last year’s daily average.
According to the statement, tourists from the Chinese mainland accounted for 82.4 percent of visitors, while visitors from Hong Kong, China’s Taiwan region accounted for 11.2 percent and 1.4 percent respectively; those from foreign countries made up 5 percent of the total number of visitor arrivals.
The statement said that on October 4, Macau’s total entries and exits reached 821,000, with 191,000 visitors, both of which set new records for the National Day Golden Week holiday period.
The statement said that a total of 5.536 million cross-border entries and exits were recorded in the city, with a daily average of 692,000, a 2.2 percent increase compared to last year’s daily average. The Barrier Gate, the statement said, reported the largest number of border crossings.
