Transport Bureau (DSAT) Director Kelvin Lam Hin San said yesterday that the government’s amendment bill on the taxi industry has been completed so that it could be submitted to the Legislative Assembly (AL) next year.

Lam made the remarks on the sidelines of a road-safety awareness event at Macau Federation of Trade Unions’ Workers Stadium near the Barrier Gate checkpoint.

According to previous media reports, the bill proposes that the licence of a cabbie breaking taxi regulations a certain number of times in a year would be cancelled, and the driver would then have to reapply for it.
