The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) said in a statement that a dead porpoise was found floating in the sea near Tam Kong Temple in Coloane yesterday afternoon.
According to the statement, IAM officers believe that the carcass belongs to a young male Indo-Pacific finless porpoise with a body length of 1.2 metres.
The statement said that the cetacean’s skin had completely disintegrated, and the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, adding that some organs were showing.
The statement urged the public to call the Municipal Affairs Bureau on 2833 7676 if they see a stranded cetacean.
