An event entitled “Exhibition of Works by Ye Jiehao and Lam Un Mei – Grand Prize Winners Artists of Jury Award in Collective Exhibition of Macao Artist” hosted by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) is being held at the Exhibitions Gallery and the Nostalgic House of the Taipa Houses.
Ye and Lam are winners of the Grand Prize of the Jury Award of the Collective Exhibition of Macau Artists 2019 and the Collective Exhibition of Macau Visual Arts in 2018 respectively.
While Ye’s creations are being shown at the Nostalgic House, Lam’s creations are on display at the Taipa Houses’ Exhibitions Gallery.
According to a statement by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the exhibition features 38 pieces and sets of prints and seal carvings by the two artists.
Ye specialises in Chinese calligraphy, painting and seal carving. His work “24 Stories of Filial Piety” won the Grand Prize of the Jury Award and the Excellent Artwork Award in the Collective Exhibition of Macau Artists 2019. Twenty-three pieces and sets of Ye’s work are displayed including seal carvings, seals and calligraphy, created between 2019 and this year, exemplifying his “deft artistry and ingenious selection” of seal materials, according to the statement.
Lam is known for displaying a strong personality in her prints, the statement points out. Her work “The Fourth of the Wall Series” won the Grand Prize of the Jury Award, the Young Artist Award and the Excellent Artwork Award at the Collective Exhibition of Macau Visual Arts 2018. This exhibition presents 15 prints by Lam, including her award-winning work in 2018 and new work created over the past two years; in particular, the work “Small Home in Big City” Series, inspired by the artist’s “reclusive” state during the COVID-19 pandemic, conveys her sentiments and reflections on life, the statement underlines.
The exhibition runs until March 14 at the Exhibitions Gallery and the Nostalgic House of the Taipa Houses in Avenida da Praia, Carmo Zone, Taipa. It opens from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily except Mondays (no admittance after 6:30 p.m.). Admission is free.
As part of the government’s COVID-19 epidemic prevention measures, all visitors entering the venue must wear a facemask, have their temperature checked and present a digital health code.
