“The motherland is Macau’s strongest backing,” Fu Ziying, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR), said in his New Year’s Message today.
In the message,Fu noted that 2021 is the first year that the country will implement the 14th Five-Year Plan and “embarks on a new journey of building a socialist modern country in an all-round way.”
Fu pointed out that 2021 also marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
“We believe that in the new year, the chief executive and the government of the MSAR will earnestly implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s series of important speeches during his visit to Macau [in December 2019], unite all sectors of society, strengthen the foundations, overcome difficulties, seize new opportunities, meet new challenges, and achieve new development, [opening] a new chapter of new prosperity and stability.”
Fu also said that the Liaison Office “will, as always, fully support the chief executive and the MSAR government in governing in accordance with the law,…safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and security development interests,maintaining Macau’s economic and social prosperity and stability, and consolidating the social and political foundations of patriotism and love for Macau.”
