An exhibition of oil paintings by local artist Pamela Chan Weng Sun titled “The Spectacle”, organised by the Ark-Association of Macau Art (AAMA) and sponsored by the public Macau Foundation (FM) in conjunction with 10 Fantasia and the St. Lazarus Church District Creative Industries Promotion Association, is being held at 10 Fantasia gallery.

The event is AAMA’s annual art programme called “Art Power Jamming”, themed “Friendship Chapter”, according to a statement by the association.

According to the association, this is the third exhibition of AAMA’s August 2020 – July 2021 art programme. It aims to unite local talents, who uncover their own stories with their unique “languages” for self-interpretation and expression of feelings, and to realise their inner self with artistic skills and sustain the cohesion among friends, the statement points out.

Chan told The Macau Post Daily in a phone interview yesterday that she graduated from the Macau Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) in 2001, majoring in Tourism Business Management. Chan said that she has liked drawing since she was a child and started learning to paint at the Future Art Professions Education Centre in 2013. “I have received numerous comments about one of my paintings titled “Coexistence” displayed at the exhibition that I should explore further the area of imagination. This artwork was created to depict the coexistence of humanity and history in relation to the sustainability of life,” Chan said.

According to the statement, Chan intends to showcase the best sceneries which are interpreted by her eyes at different angles – from a bird’s eyes view to imaginative compositions. All these sceneries are generated by the spaces and environments with which she is familiar in her daily life, such as at home and her workplace to cities she visited, “or somewhere in other dimensions which might not exist,” the statement noted.

This exhibition series not only creates an exchange platform for different artists who embody different talents and artistic skills, but also lets visitors appreciate their unique artwork, according to the statement.

The exhibition runs until January 22 at 10 Fantasia’s B07 hall. It opens daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed on Mondays) at 10, Calçada da Igreja de S. Lázaro. Admission is free.
