A suspected peeping Tom was arrested on Sunday over an incident in a women’s toilet of a restaurant in Rua da Bacia Sul in Fai Chi Kei on the previous day, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Lai In Hong said in a press conference yesterday.

The local suspect surnamed Si, who is in his thirties, told the police that he’s unemployed.

According to Lai, a woman in her twenties reported to the police on Saturday that she saw a man in the restaurant’s women’s toilet at about 4:30 p.m. on that day and suspected him of peeping at her while she was using the bathroom.

She told the police that when she looked up, she saw a man peeping at her from the cubicle next to her.

When she came out of the washroom, she saw the man standing outside the men’s toilet before he ran away. The victim took the opportunity to take a photo of his back and reported the case to the police.

Thanks to the restaurant’s CCTV footage and that of the nearby area, PSP officers located Si and intercepted him on the following day at his home near Rua da Bacia Sul and seized the clothes Si wore when committing the crime. Si refused to cooperate with the police. However, the victim later confirmed that Si was the peeping Tom.

Si has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing an invasion of privacy charge, according to Article 186 of the Macau Penal Code, according to Lai. The article carries a maximum prison term of two years or a fine.
