The 2020 Consumer Carnival series, which consisted of the Taipa and Colane, Southern Central and Northern districts’ carnivals, recorded total sales worth more than 860 million patacas, the Economic Services Bureau (DSE) said in a statement yesterday.
According to the statement, the 2020 Southern Central and Northern districts consumer carnivals ended yesterday, involving 15,000 shops in the two areas, double the number of shops that took part in 2019.
The statement noted that the Taipa and Coloane district consumer carnival had ended in late October already.
In total, the carnivals in the three districts had over 16,000 shops taking part, with the total sales reaching 860 million patacas.
The statement said that the Macau government worked with seven different digital payment platforms and launched a lucky draw that rewarded consumers with “Small-to-medium-sized enterprise (SMEs) consumption coupons”, in order to attract shoppers to revisit local SMEs. The statement noted that over 160 million patacas in sales came from return customers.
The statement pointed out that the carnival gave out 1.64 million digital consumption coupons (worth about 7.1 million patacas). The bureau reminded residents who received the SME consumption coupons that they must be used before February 28.

The statement said that in the future the government would continue to encourage the development of local SMEs, and continue to create a creative environment for them.
