Gaming operators MGM, Wynn and Melco yesterday separately announced that they will be paying their employees a bonus equal to one month’s salary in recognition of their contributions to their companies during a “challenging 2020”.
Two weeks ago, gaming operator SJM said that it is giving eligible employees a “living subsidy” equivalent of 1.5 or two months’ salary.
MGM’s statement said that its discretionary bonus would be paid to eligible non-management staff in two instalments before and after 2021 Chinese New Year.
“2020 was a year full of challenges,” MGM China Holdings Limited Co-Chairperson and Executive Director Pansy Ho Chiu-king said, adding that with an innovative mindset and courage to change, the company will achieve greatness together with Macau this year.
Wynn Macau, Limited’s statement meanwhile said that its annual bonus equal to one month’s gross salary will be paid to all eligible Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace employees, accounting for 98.5 percent of the company’s current workforce of 13,069.
The Wynn statement said that the bonus payment will be a combination of both cash (70 percent) and a stored value ‘Wynn Care Macau Pass’ consumption card (30 percent).
“This combined payment will enable Wynn team members to continue supporting the many small and essential local businesses in our community that have been experiencing difficulties over the past 12 months,” the statement from Wynn said.
In addition, Melco Resorts & Entertainment said that its one month non-recurring discretionary bonus will be paid to all eligible non-management employees ahead of the Chinese New Year.
“The year 2020 has certainly been challenging; affecting businesses and communities all around the world,” Melco Resorts & Entertainment Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho Yau-lung said, adding: “We appreciate our colleagues’ every contribution during this difficult time as we continue to stand as one to weather the challenges in the new year with optimism and courage.”
The Chinese New Year falls on February 12.
