The traditional Taipa Flea Market that was planned to start on Sunday has been postponed until at least April, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) said in a statement yesterday.
According to the statement, due to the government’s novel coronavirus prevention measures, the government has decided to postpone the first phase of the 2021 Taipa Flea Market. The market was supposed to start this Sunday and run until the end of March but the bureau decided to cancel the first three months of the market and possibly start after March 28.
The statement said that the bureau will closely observe the novel coronavirus pandemic situation and make adjustments accordingly.
According to the statement, the market is usually held Sunday and on public holidays in Largo dos Bombeiros in Taipa. Early this month the bureau held a lucky draw for booths at the market for vendors.
An IAM statement on January 6 said that there would be 23 booths at the market and that there were 28 applicants.
