AIA Group Limited Macau Branch had notified the Judiciary Police (PJ) recently that a fake AIA website which claimed to be “AIA Investment Management System” has been circulating online with the fake website address “aia-ims.morestar.com.hk”, according to a statement from the Judiciary Police yesterday.
According to the statement, the company has confirmed that their website address is www.aia.com and the company’s headquarters had reported the incident to the Hong Kong police.
The statement underlines that the Judiciary Police urge the public to be vigilant and not to log on to suspicious websites or log on to their accounts on suspicious websites to add personal data or conduct transactions, to avoid losses.
The statement also reminded the public to pay more attention to network security and do not log on to websites of unknown origin and register personal data. The statement pointed out that the public should check the accurate website address before logging on. The statement advised the public to install anti-virus software and a firewall on their computers or smartphones and update them regularly as well as to change their computers and online accounts’ passwords from time to time. Anyone suspecting they are a victim of a scam should call the PJ hotline 993 or fraud prevention hotline 8800 7777.
