Two men and a woman were arrested last Monday in a case that involved a divorce, a marriage, a divorce and a remarriage in order for the son from the first marriage, and subsequent remarriage, to obtain a Macau ID card, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong said during yesterday’s regular press conference.

The three suspects are a 67-year-old local woman surnamed Lu, who works as a security guard, a 70-year-old jobless man from the mainland surnamed Zhong, and a 69-year-old local man surnamed Vong, who told the police that he is a waiter.

According to Lam, the Public Security Police discovered last year a family reunion application appeared suspicious. PSP officers found out that Lu and Zhong had married in the mainland in the 1970s and had a son but they divorced in 2007 due to not being able to get on anymore. Lu later met Vong and they were married in 2009 in the mainland. Lu was able to obtain her Macau ID card in 2013.

As Lu and Zhong’s son, who is over 18, is in the mainland, Lu divorced Vong in 2016 and remarried Zhong in the mainland in the same year in order for their son to obtain a Macau ID card, Lam said.

According to Lam, the Public Security Police discovered that Lu and Vong are still living together while Lu and Zhong, who is in Macau on a visitor’s visa, have never lived together since they remarried. PSP officers picked up the trio at various locations last Friday.

The trio have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a document forgery charge, according to Lam.
