Two women were arrested separately last week for involvement in the theft of a crash helmet worth 800 patacas, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesperson said at a regular press conference on Friday.
The two local suspects comprise a casino dealer surnamed Leong who is in her forties and her colleague surnamed Vong who is in her fifties.
According to the spokesperson, a male scooter rider reported to the Public Security Police last Saturday that after he had parked his scooter in Rua Nova à Guia earlier that day and left his helmet worth 800 patacas on the scooter’s seat it was gone when he returned 40 minutes later.
According to the spokesperson, the Public Security Police identified Leong’s scooter registration number based on nearby shops’ CCTV footage and arrested her earlier last week in her flat in Avenida da Longevidade in the northern district. PSP officers later arrested Vong, Leong’s colleague.
Leong admitted to committing the crime, while Vong told the police she knew that the helmet was stolen by Leong but since she wanted Leong to give her a lift home she didn’t mind and wore the helmet nevertheless.
The duo have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a theft charge, according to the spokesperson.
