An exhibition organised by Fion’s Work in conjunction with TingTing Workshop, sponsored by the public Macau Foundation (FM), entitled “Recording of Daily Life”, hosted by local artist Fion Lei Wai Leong who invited her friend Cheong Nga Teng to join the show, is on display at 10 Fantasia.
The event is being co-hosted by 10 Fantasia as its Permanent Exhibition 2020 and the St. Lazarus Church District Creative Industries Promotion Association, according to an unsigned article on 10 Fantasia’s Facebook page.
Lei’s year-long exhibition – which started in June 2020 – of her artwork at 10 Fantasia’s gallery consists of four themes representing four stages and involving several friends invited by Lei to co-exhibit their works. The aim of the joint exhibitions is to express different emotions and imaginations through interactions and the exchange of exhibits, according to the article.
Lei told The Macau Post Daily in an interview last month that she is the chief secretary of The Manga-Art Creative Association of Macau (M.A.C.A.M.), founder of local handicraft brand “Fion’s Work” and illustrator of Macau illustration brand “Art Fat”. She has been a full-time teacher for 13 years in a number of schools, private art centres and special education centres, mainly teaching how to crochet dolls, hand-sew on felt and paint watercolours.
Lei told The Macau Post Daily yesterday that from her solo exhibition entitled “Art Fat and First Heart: Fantasy Travel Series” in June 2020, “Dialogue x Imagination” with Ip Wai Tou in August 2020, “Seeing ‧ the Continuation – Budding” with Javier Tong Sok Teng and Abigail Lai Iok Lan in December 2020 to “Recording of Daily Life” with Cheong, she has created a series of exhibitions with different themes revolving around friendship and creative passion.
Lei told The Macau Post Daily yesterday that the current exhibition aims to share with her friend, Cheong, their interests and handcraft creations. Both are busy every day with their work such as preparing lessons, housework, taking care of children, and looking after cats.
Annoyance and confusion are trapped in minds, and sometimes the situations cause them shortness of breath. They decided to use their skills to record the bits and pieces of daily life and showcase these petty things in a lovely and vivid way to viewers, Lei said.
The exhibition displays 12 artworks by Lei and Cheong created in different styles using paper strips, watercolours, fabrics and wool until April 18 in Room B09 at 10 Fantasia, which opens daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed on Mondays), at 10 Calçada da Igreja de S. Lázaro. Admission is free.
