A 28-year-old local man was arrested on Tuesday for pretending to be a government official and cheating a mainland businessman out of over 10 million yuan in 2014, a Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesperson said yesterday.

The spokesperson announced the case during a special press briefing.

According to the spokesperson, the victim came to Macau in August 2014 and met a man surnamed Cheang, who told the victim that he would introduce him to a chief of department at the Transport Bureau (DSAT), who could secure a licence for several car parks as well as an eco-friendly car dealership licence for the victim.
