Summer is here and mosquitoes too. While there are many mosquito repellents in the market, most of them have toxic chemicals that may cause insomnia and mood disturbances if too much is applied.
Instead of using something that is not good for the health or the environment, natural sprays that use essential oils that give off natural fragrances that effectively repel mosquitoes while reducing itchiness and relieving tiredness are a better alternative.
Clove tincture, made of cloves and gin, forms the basic ingredient of a homemade mosquito spray. Steep for two weeks and then mix it with water and essential oils according to your preference: lemongrass, citronella, eucalyptus and litsea cubeba oils are the most effective to repel mosquitoes, and tea tree oil can soothe itchiness. Add a few drops of lavender or jasmine oil to the spray to give it a floral aroma.
