A 24-year-old student who took sneak photos of women for several years was arrested on Friday for taking upskirt photos of another woman earlier that day, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong said at a regular press conference yesterday.
The local suspect surnamed U told the police that he is a student.
According to Lam, a woman reported to the police on Friday that a man took upskirt photos of her earlier that day. She told the police that she was buying drinks in Rua de Seng Tou in Taipa that day when a passer-by gave her a signal that someone behind her was taking upskirt photo of her. She turned around and saw a man who immediately ran away. The victim reported the case to the police.
Thanks to CCTV footage, PSP officers went to U’s home in Rua da Praia do Manduco to question him. The officers seized the clothes U wore when he was taking the sneak photos. The police also seized a modified water bottle, three smartphones, a rucksack and a Bluetooth remote control.
The officers discovered a number of upskirt photos and videos on a laptop, a mobile hard drive and a cloud account. U admitted that he took the photos and videos. He told the police that he developed the habit several years ago. He hid the camera in a modified water bottle and put in his rucksack to fix its position, and used a Bluetooth remote control to take the sneak photos and videos.
U has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing invasion of privacy charges, according to Lam.
