The Macau government said in a statement yesterday that “there have recently been various news reports concerning TDM, the public broadcaster of the Macau SAR. Operating in accordance with its own charter, its management has the ability to address and resolve any internal matters concerning its own administrative affairs.”
According to the statement, the “government emphasises that all news organisations in Macau have the freedom to set their own editorial guidelines. The Government continues to respect and uphold the principle of the freedom of the press as stipulated in the Basic Law, as always.”
Concerning the TDM matter and other media-related issues, The Macau Post Daily published an editorial headlined “Press freedom put in perspective” on Monday. It is also available on our website as well as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.
