The Monetary Authority of Macau (AMCM) said in a statement yesterday that it recently received reports about netizens pretending to be AMCM staff by using a fake business card to sell investment products.
The statement said that the fake calling card has AMCM’s official logo, phone number, website and address on it, yet the design of the card is completely different from the genuine one.
The statement also pointed out that the business card claims that its holder is a “manager” in the AMCM “marketing analysis department” which in reality does not exist.
The statement noted that residents reported the cases to AMCM saying that there are netizens masquerading as AMCM staff trying to sell investment products through social media platforms.
AMCM stressed that the bureau is a regulatory body and does not sell investment products to residents, urging them to be more cautious and to report to the police once they encounter incidents like this.
