A local man and a man and a woman from the mainland were arrested on Wednesday for their alleged dealing in drugs, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Choi Ian Fai said at a special press conference yesterday.

The three suspects are a 31-year-old local man surnamed Teng, a 24-year-old mainland woman surnamed Zhang and a 31-year-old man from the mainland surnamed Wang who had illegally entered Macau.

According to Choi, the Judiciary Police received a tip-off a week ago about a man selling drugs to clients in local casinos and night entertainment venues. PJ officers identified Teng as a suspect and took action on Wednesday near a building in Taipa Village. The officers who had Teng under surveillance saw him leaving the building and getting a taxi to a hotel in Cotai. He entered the hotel and met a woman surnamed Zhang in a guestroom. The officers arrested both and seized a packet of ketamine weighing 1.07 grammes from Teng.

The officers took Teng back to his flat where they seized 31 packets of ketamine weighing 37.7 grammes and seven packets of Happy Powder weighing 8.35 grammes with an estimated street price of 50,000 patacas. Teng admitted to dealing in drugs.

Besides, the officers also discovered a mainland man – Wang – in the flat who had illegally entered Macau.

Under questioning, both Zhang and Wang denied that they had anything to do with the case. However, the Judiciary Police believe that both are involved in drug dealing. Choi said that Teng had travelled between Macau and the mainland at least three times in the past six months. His most recent return to Macau was last Saturday, and the Judiciary Police believe Teng had been selling drugs for at least two months.

Choi said that the Judiciary Police were continuing their investigation to trace the source of the drugs. Both Zhang and Wang were transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) earlier this week for questioning.

Teng was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office yesterday, facing drug trafficking charges, according to Choi.
