The Health Bureau (SSM) said in a statement yesterday that it is recalling a proprietary Chinese medicine (pCm) named “南美人參安腦丸(孔聖枕中丹加味)” .

The statement underlined that the medicine does not have an English or Portuguese name and recommends readers to look at the photo for reference.

According to the packaging, the pCm can be taken for insomnia.

According to the statement, the bureau was doing its regular sampling and found that the respective medicine manufactured by Taiwan’s Nan Me pharmaceutical company with the batch number PP-03-702 has a bacterial content exceeding the limit of the registration criteria.

The bureau said it has already ordered the importer to immediately recall this specific batch of pCm. The bureau also urged residents to stop using the named product.

The statement said that besides the bureau’s regular sampling, doctors, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practitioners, pharmacists or any other healthcare specialists should report any medicine that has side effects or subpar quality to the bureau. For any enquiries, residents can call 8598 3518 during office hour for more information.
