The public Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre (CPTTM) noted in a statement that the government’s digitalised food and beverage industry subsidy scheme started yesterday, and 230 local small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) had signed up by 9:30 p.m. yesterday.
According to the statement, some of the SMEs hope that the subsidy can help improve their management.
According to a press conference on May 10, the subsidy scheme has been organised by The United Association of Food and Beverage Merchants of Macau in conjunction with the centre. The scheme is subsidised by the government. Eligible SMEs can apply for the scheme until May 31, after which the government will provide subsidies up to 12,000 patacas per successful application for implementing digitalised systems for food and beverage businesses. The association said at the press conference it hoped to assist Macau’s SMEs in catching up with their technological management reformation. The scheme subsidises systems that assist in the ordering procedures and installing the devices required to accept digital payments.
CPTTM Director-General Shuen Ka Hung said at the May 10 press conference that he expected 100 to 150 businesses to benefit from the scheme, adding that if the feedback is good, the centre might consider launching a second phase.
Meanwhile, according to yesterday’s statement, applicants were waiting outside the Macau Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Rua de Xangai at 7 a.m. The statement said that the applicants followed the Health Bureau’s COVID-19 pandemic prevention measures, adding that they all wore facemasks, displayed a valid Macau Health Code and get their temperature checked. The statement underlined that in order to implement crowd control, applicants must hand in their application according to their ticket number.
For more information regarding the application process, residents can visit www.cpttm.org.mo/ecm/catering-sme/ or call 2878 1414 during the centre’s office hours.
